A Omega Speedmaster with caliber 321 is wonderful any day. But have you heard of the CB cases? We have featured a number of rare and unusual Speedmasters. Limited Edition models. Wicked dials. But the CB case is something special.. And it takes a trained eye to appreciate.

While most cases for the 105.012 where made by HF (Huguenin Freres) and marked as such, a smaller number of them was manufacured at CB (Central Boites) and marked as such on the inside of the caseback. While this may seem trivial, there is actually a detail that will make the real Speedmaster aficionado exceedingly excited when seeing one of these -especially in hardly-if-at-all polished condition such as the present example: the flat facet on the top, where the lug touches the case. Most distinguishable as a line in the pictures above.

It is hard to see. It is hard to appreciate. And we are the first to admit that our pics do not fully reflect the awesomeness of this detail. But it is there.. and in the pictured watch, it is there in almost immaculate condition. It is a true joy to behold for the Speedmaster collector looking for that little bit extra.!

Awesome right? You might recall our story on the Star Watch-cased (and NASA-issued) Omega Speedmaster Professional ‘Radial’ 145.022  that we posted a while back – another example of a Speedmaster with a case by another manufacturer. The lugs on these are also quite different – there is a more prominent flat vertical plane.
