OMEGA celebrates 60 years of the Speedmaster with legendary astronaut General Thomas P. Stafford.

Earthbound watch fans enjoyed a unique “out of this world” experience at the new Zaha Hadid building in West Chelsea, New York at a special celebration for the 60th anniversary of the Speedmaster.

Special guests, OMEGA Ambassador, General Thomas P. Stafford, and former NASA Engineer, David Cisco, joined OMEGA management, friends of the brand, and media, for an elegant evening that highlighted the Speedmaster’s historic legacy of space exploration.

Inside the transformed Zaha Hadid space, guests explored a collection of new and vintage Speedmaster models and captured their own moment on the lunar surface with a dedicated #SpeedmasterFans photobooth.

The evening culminated when attendees were welcomed into a private room for a “Meet the Astronauts” panel with General Thomas P. Stafford and David Cisco who lead an engaging discussion on the impact of the OMEGA Speedmaster on NASA’s space program and the lunar missions.

The OMEGA Speedmaster is truly one of the most iconic watches in history. The original 1957 model was the first watch in the world to feature a tachymeter scale on the bezel and in 1965, was qualified by NASA for all manned space missions. It would go on to become the first watch worn on the Moon.
