The new Speedmaster Broad Arrow Co-Axial collection introduces some stylish additions to the classic design of the watch that has been part of more than a hundred NASA missions including all six lunar landings.

The dial, available in black or silver, features a distinctive “Geneva Waves” pattern. The familiar chronograph counters, or sub-dials, are characterized by three applied rings which surround a unique “beehive” structure, giving the Speedmaster Broad Arrow Co-Axial its own personality. The sub-dial rings on the silver dial are blackened and those on the black dial are silver for a particularly appealing contrast. There is a date window at the 4:30 position on the dial.

The hour and minute hands, which are either blackened or rhodium-plated, are coated with white Super-LumiNova which makes them easy to read in all lighting conditions. The central chronograph hand has a red tip as do the hands of the sub-dials.

The 44.25 mm stainless steel case has the shape which has been associated with OMEGA Speedmasters for more than half a century. The Speedmaster Broad Arrow Co-Axial is presented with either a stainless steel bracelet or an integrated black alligator strap.

The Speedmaster Broad Arrow Co-Axial is powered by the exclusive OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 3313. The accuracy of the self-winding chronograph is independently confirmed by its status as a COSC-certified chronometer. The movement is equipped with OMEGA’s Co-Axial escapement on three levels. It delivers outstanding chronometric performance over a long period of time which increases service intervals and has allowed OMEGA to guarantee it for three years. It also allows the possibility of changing the hour hand independently of the minute and second hands – ideal for travelling between time zones. The movement is visible through the sapphire crystal case back.

The outstanding chronograph performance of the Broad Arrow Co-Axial is ensured by its column wheel chronograph mechanism. The watch is water resistant to 100 metres / 10 bar / 330 feet.

The OMEGA Speedmaster Broad Arrow Co-Axial watch is a fashionable interpretation of a chronograph which has gone to places no other watch has ever been. It artfully combines the Speedmaster’s rugged, adventurous spirit with some dramatic features which will make it one of the most popular members of the line.

Fitted with OMEGA’s exclusive Calibre 3313, this self-winding movement is equipped with the Co-Axial escapement offering even greater reliability and accuracy. In tune with the sophisticated nature of this timepiece, the case and bracelet have been crafted in a choice of metals including a stunning combination of 18-carat red gold and stainless steel. Embellishing the three gold models of the watch even further is the innovative “screw and pin” bracelet, an ingenious system for the rapid adjustment of the length of the bracelet.

The year 1957 was a groundbreaking one for OMEGA. The original Speedmaster – celebrating its 50th anniversary this year – formed a trio of OMEGA débuts along with the Railmaster and the Seamaster 300. All three watches were high-precision timepieces designed for professional assignments and offered similar performance and aesthetic features with black dials, very robust cases and stainless steel bracelets. This year’s model has inherited some characteristic traits of the Speedmaster line with its distinct arrowhead hands, curved and facetted horns and tachymeter scale on the bezel, but it has been reinterpreted in opulent materials and details.

All three versions of the dial, in sleek black, elegant silver and rich, chocolate brown display the timekeeping and chronograph features in high style. The hallmark “Broad Arrow” hands have been facetted, polished and coated with Super-LumiNova for improved aesthetics and legibility. The wide baton hour markers and the OMEGA logo at 12 o’clock have been applied to the dial creating a greater sense of depth and dimension. To embellish and highlight the chronograph functions, the counters have a contrasting outer ring, matching the material of the case and dials. In the case of the silver dial model the hands and the hour markers are made of blued steel; in the black dial version these features have been applied in rhodium and in the brown, black and silver version, the dial is enhanced with golden hands, outer ring and hour markers.

The Speedmaster Broad Arrow boasts the latest advances in watch technology and has been fitted with OMEGA’s exclusive Calibre 3313. At the heart of the self-winding movement is the Co-Axial escapement that considerably reduces friction in the mechanical watch movement, lessens the need for lubrication and in turn offers improved long-term reliability and accuracy. Pioneered by OMEGA in 1999, the Co-Axial escapement represents one of the most important advances in watch making and was first introduced in OMEGA’s De Ville range. The column wheel chronograph mechanism of this timepiece is designed to ensure a smooth start to the sweep of the seconds hand when the chronograph is activated and precision stop and reset functions. The Speedmaster Broad Arrow has a power reserve of 52 hours, a convenient date window at 6 o’clock and has been officially certified as a chronometer by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres, the COSC.

The 42 mm case of the Broad Arrow is available in a variety of metals: in sumptuous 18-carat red gold, 18-carat yellow gold, a dramatic combination of stainless steel and 18-carat red gold and more traditional stainless steel. The case has been beautifully polished and brushed and the special double gaskets on the crown and chronograph pushers ensure water resistance to 100 metres/330 ft. The resilient sapphire crystal case back protects and reveals the superlative Co-Axial 3313 movement and the dial is afforded maximum resilience with a domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment.

A novelty of the red gold, yellow gold and combination stainless steel and red gold models of the Speedmaster Broad Arrow is the OMEGA patented “screw and pin” bracelet. Changing the links of the bracelet to suit your wrist size has never been easier with OMEGA’s ingenious system of discreet screws. Not only does this confer greater flexibility, it actually improves the aesthetics of the bracelet. The bracelet is fully integrated into the case forming a highly fluid, ergonomic and harmonious line that follows the contours of the wrist perfectly. Available in red gold, yellow gold and in combination red gold and stainless steel, it all fits with a matching safety clasp. The links of the bracelet are beautifully wrought and have been brushed and polished for additional texture and contrast giving this watch a unique finish. Inspired by the first solid link bracelet of the 1960’s, the more traditional stainless steel version of the Speedmaster Broad Arrow is fitted with a classic stainless steel bracelet and a foldover clasp.

And for watch lovers who prefer the feel and look of a leather strap, there is a choice of a brown calfskin strap for the stainless steel model and a brown alligator strap for the yellow gold model, both with their corresponding stainless steel or yellow gold foldover clasps. The red gold watch can be customised with a black alligator leather strap with its red gold foldover clasp and the impressive stainless steel and red gold version also comes with a brown alligator strap with a stainless steel foldover clasp and OMEGA’s distinctive logo in red gold.

The diamond Speedmaster: Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow

OMEGA’s Speedmaster line has a considerable heritage. Flight-qualified for manned spaceflight missions by NASA and chosen by the Russian space agency for the same purpose, it is the only watch ever to have been worn on the moon. Its reliability is such that today, over 35 years after initially being approved for space missions, it is still the only watch approved for extra-vehicular activity in outer space. The new Speedmaster Broad Arrow, which takes its name from the distinctive hands used on the very first Speedmaster models, signals not only a completely new model in the Speedmaster collection but also the arrival of a brand-new prestige watch movement that is exclusive to OMEGA. The two latest models in this new collection turn these prestige watches into stunning jewellery pieces.

The heart of the Speedmaster “Broad Arrow” is undoubtedly the new OMEGA calibre 3303 movement, developed by OMEGA and produced exclusively for OMEGA by Frédéric Piguet – a totally new self-winding COSC-certified chronometer-chronograph movement that benefits from the latest in watchmaking technology. Its column-wheel chronograph mechanism consists of a ratchet wheel with columns that govern the precision operation of various levers for the chronograph functions: start, stop and reset for the central chronograph seconds hand and the hour and minute totalisers (located at 6 o’clock and 3 o’clock respectively). Column-wheel chronographs are widely recognised as the finest chronograph movements available. However, they remain exclusive, since very few manufacturers are capable of producing this highly sophisticated mechanism. The exclusive nature of OMEGA’s new movement is further enhanced by OMEGA’s proven sprung-balance without index, which offers improved regulating stability.

Two new Broad Arrow models elevate the luxury status of this timepiece even further, ensuring that the highly complicated movement is encased appropriately using only the most precious of materials. Both models have a stainless steel case and bezel paved with 54 diamonds, as well as hour markers on the dial encrusted with 32 diamonds. The luxury theme continues with a choice of a white mother-of-pearl or black crystal dial and a stainless steel bracelet or hand-sewn black or brown alligator leather strap. Both models share the same top-of-the-range quality levels as all other Broad Arrow models, with an anti-reflective scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, screw-in case back and OMEGA double gasket crown that ensure water resistance to 100 metres.

Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow Limited Edition

OMEGA’s Speedmaster line has a considerable heritage. Flight-qualified for manned spaceflight missions by the American and Russian space agencies, it is the only watch ever to have been worn on the moon. Its reliability is such that today, over 35 years after initially being approved for space missions, it is still the only watch approved for extra-vehicular activity in outer space. The latest addition to this world-renowned watch collection takes its inspiration from the first-ever model in the Speedmaster collection and uses an exclusive and completely new OMEGA chronograph movement. A special series of limited-edition watches has been produced to celebrate the arrival of this new collection.

The heart of the Speedmaster Broad Arrow is undoubtedly the new movement developed by OMEGA and produced exclusively for OMEGA by Frédéric Piguet. The new calibre is a self-winding COSC-certified chronometer movement which benefits from the latest in watchmaking technology. The exclusiveness of OMEGA’s new movement is further enhanced by the proven OMEGA sprung-balance without index, which offers improved regulating stability.

The special limited edition Broad Arrow models highlight the two salient features of this timepiece: the “Broad Arrow” hands of the original Speedmaster watch (reproduced in 18-carat gold on these models) and the new OMEGA column-wheel chronograph movement. The Broad Arrow’s unique hands are set off by a collection of watches in red, yellow and white gold with an authentic enamel dial, bearing the limited-series number. The OMEGA calibre 3320 is visible behind a transparent screw-in sapphire crystal case back, which bears the inscription “SPEEDMASTER ENAMEL LIMITED SERIES” and the limited-series number. It has a meticulous finish with Geneva wave decor, circular graining, rhodium-plated surfaces, gold-plated engraving, blued-steel screws and a polished bevelled chronograph module with smoothed upper surfaces. The movement has a platinum rotor with an 18-carat gold Speedmaster medallion that matches the colour of the watch case. Like the column-wheel chronograph mechanism, the enamel dial is also a rare feature, since it is difficult to produce and is available only from a limited number of manufacturers. The appeal of this watch is increased yet further by the highly restricted production run of 99 watches in each gold colour, make this limited edition a highly sought-after timepiece.

The most precious materials were chosen for the model that pays tribute to the brand-new OMEGA column wheel chronograph movement. The intricately skeletonised version of the movement, OMEGA Calibre 3221, with platinum rotor and 18 carat gold medallion, is housed in a platinum case, with platinum bezel and crown. The painstaking attention to detail on the skeleton movement is set off by an 18 carat gold dial with applied hour markers. The movement is also visible through a transparent sapphire crystal case back bearing the limited-series number. The 21 pieces of this sublime model celebrate the continuation of the OMEGA Speedmaster legend well into the 21st Century.

The limited-edition Broad Arrow models are fitted with a hand-sewn alligator leather strap with 18-carat gold foldover clasp matching the colour of the case. In addition to the screw-in transparent case-back, an OMEGA double gasket crown guarantees water resistance to a depth of 100 metres. They are a must for those who admire the illustrious heritage of OMEGA’s legendary Speedmaster watch and who appreciate the very finest in the art of prestige watchmaking.

The crowning glory in the Speedmaster Broad Arrow collection is a unique series of nine special gift boxes containing each of the three models (in yellow, red and white gold) with the authentic enamel dial. Individually numbered 1 to 9, these rare pieces will make an enviable centrepiece to any collection of prestige timepieces.
